As governments move from climate target-setting to delivery, the transition away from fossil fuels must become economically credible, politically feasible and investable. The COP Presidency Global Roadmap will have provided clear insights on barriers and enablers to make it happen, which will need to translate at country-level through national processes. These national pathways will also need to translate interconnected global objectives on renewable energy, energy efficiency and electrification into coherent policy, infrastructure and investment decisions adapted to different country circumstances. This interactive session will explore how experiences from elaborating long-term strategies can connect near-term policy and investment choices with structural transformation, development priorities and implementation accountability.
The session aims to identify practical ways to use long-term strategies to strengthen policy coherence, investment readiness and partnerships across regions to achieve equitable transitions away from fossil fuels, generating concrete messages for COP31 and providing country-level information on the road toward the second Global Stocktake.
