The next four years are decisive: each Rio Convention carries milestones to 2030, a critical staging post toward transformative change by 2050. As implementation advances under the KMGBF, the Paris Agreement and the UNCCD’s 2018–2030 Strategic Framework, the interconnectedness of the climate, biodiversity and land crises is increasingly evident. 2026’s triple COP year — UNCCD COP17, CBD COP17 and UNFCCC COP31 within months of each other — is the moment to turn that recognition into delivery. This panel brings together political, subnational, civil society, and Indigenous voices from across regions to examine how cooperation turns political recognition into coherent action on the ground, and how regional and local delivery can lead where international consensus has been slow.

Format: 60-minute moderated panel. Objective: build cross-regional momentum for coherent, delivery-focused implementation of the three Rio Conventions.

Panellists are still to be defined. As a coalition of 30+ organisations operating globally, Nature4Climate is well placed to ensure geographical representation across the panel, and we welcome suggestions and offers to collaborate in building it out. We envision a panel including: political voices connected to each of the three conventions; a subnational government representative (e.g. a Brazilian Amazon state government); a civil society/scientific voice from an N4C member organisation; and a representative of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, speaking to delivery on the ground.
