Regional Climate Foundation

About us

At a critical time for the implementation of the Paris Agreement and to reverse and avoid the worst impacts of climate change, it is more necessary than ever to accelerate mitigation and adaptation measures in a multi-sectoral manner, with fairness and justice for all.

To this end, it is crucial to promote effective interaction spaces between governments and non-state actors to demonstrate what is already being done, what needs to be scaled up, and the main challenges that still exist for the necessary transitions. Furthermore, a new level of collaboration is necessary, one that values the possibilities of partnership between different realities and geographies, avoids the North-South dichotomy and promotes replicable and scalable solutions.

Organizations supported by Regional Climate Foundations (RCFs) in different geographies emerge as powerful ecosystems, weaving a network of collaboration and innovation. The essence of these foundations lies in creating robust networks and a logical framework of cooperation among various organizations, respecting different sources of knowledge, contributing to more open and transparent deliberations, promoting active listening, being empathetic, and calling different sectors and stakeholders to action. At the same time, the Regional Climate Foundations work together to facilitate dialogue with different players.

Each region or country has unique needs and challenges and must deliver what is necessary to achieve global climate goals. By fostering regional collaboration, the Regional Climate Foundations ensure that solutions are tailored to local realities, promoting a more effective and sustainable approach while connecting these solutions to international discussions.

For this year, the group of Regional Climate Foundations will promote debates and meetings at COP 29 in a pavilion at the Blue Zone, where we aim to discuss the following themes:

  • Aligning the new round of NDCs to the 1.5°C goal
  • Adaptation: strategies, metrics, and the cost of inaction
  • Subnational and Non-state actors’ leadership
  • Climate Finance: NCQG and Action Agenda
  • Nature-Based Solutions
  • Just Energy Transition
  • Agriculture and Food Systems
  • Climate and International Trade
  • Culture and arts as climate action
