Critical minerals are essential to the energy transition, yet their development benefits are not automatically captured by resource-rich Global South countries. This 60-minute session will showcase Indonesia’s Transition Minerals Consensus Framework, developed through INDEF GTI’s work with support from ViriyaENB, and bring it into dialogue with perspectives from Latin America and Africa.
Following a context-setting presentation, the panel will explore how mineral development can advance domestic value creation, industrial capability, technology and skills transfer, responsible production, and equitable benefit-sharing. The session aims to identify practical pathways for producer countries to move beyond extraction, strengthen green industrialisation, and advance South–South cooperation for more resilient and inclusive transition-mineral value chains
