This panel brings together the National Gender and Climate Change Focal Point (NGCCFP) and civil society organizations to exchange experiences on care and climate as part of a just transition framework. Designed as a roundtable, it aims to support the discussions around Belem Antalya Mechanism (BAM) as well as the implementation of the Belem Gender Action Plan (GAP) particularly Activity A.3.9, which calls for submissions on findings of national assessments of care work in the context of gender and climate change.
Speakers from Uruguay, Namibia, Mexico and Brazil will share government perspectives on integrating care systems, services, and unpaid work data into national climate assessments and resilience planning, while civil society representatives engaged in the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) will contribute with grassroots and advocacy perspectives. The panel is relevant to strengthening the evidence base and quality of Parties’ contributions to the GAP process, fostering cross-regional learning among focal points and civil society, and building concrete recommendations to inform future submissions under A.3.9.
