Mexico is undergoing one of the most significant energy sector transformations in decades. Through Plan México and the 2025 energy reform, the government has strengthened the role of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), streamlined institutional governance through the new National Energy Commission, and set ambitious targets for expanding generation capacity and clean energy participation by 2030. This panel will present Mexico’s state-led model for energy security, sovereignty, and decarbonization, offering an international audience insight into how public investment and planning can accelerate the energy transition.
Through a moderated dialogue featuring SENER officials and allied experts, the session will highlight concrete progress, upcoming infrastructure milestones, and lessons for other countries pursuing a stronger public role in their energy transitions. The panel is timely given the sector’s rapid regulatory rollout and Mexico’s growing relevance in global conversations on energy sovereignty and climate action.
