Organized by the Adaptation Task Force – a coalition of 40 organizations from 13 Latin American and Caribbean countries that prioritize adaptation at COP30, this session outlines how to translate the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) into actionable, locally grounded steps. Lessons from urban and rural communities clarify the urgent need for adaptation tailored to place. The session demonstrates the use of participatory tools – citizen monitoring, community data, and public policy – to design indicators rooted in local realities. The panel urges integrating territorial perspectives into adaptation governance and illustrates how local knowledge and citizen data can shape international adaptation beyond the current GGA mandate.
