Global battery storage is expanding rapidly, with a record 175.4 GWh added in 2024 and up to 247 GWh expected in 2025. While over 100 countries signed the Global Energy Storage and Grid Pledge at COP29, committing to a sixfold ESS capacity increase by 2030 and major grid upgrades, installation rates have not increased, potentially due to fire accidents and lukewarm policies.

This roundtable will bring together policymakers, industry, and experts to assess national-level implementation of the Global Energy Storage and Grid pledge, share global best practices and insights, and strengthen cooperation on policy, finance, and technology to accelerate large-scale ESS deployment and investment. The discussion will aim to promote country accountability and transparency in translating policy commitment into measurable outcomes, while emphasizing national-level leadership.
