The Baku to Belém Roadmap has been launched ahead of COP30, outlining recommended actions for mobilization of $1.3T in climate finance. Before that, the Circle of Finance Ministers convened by the Brazilian Ministry of Finance had already delivered its Report with a “to-do list” for implementation across all relevant actors, including governments, financial institutions and the private sector. This side event will convene key stakeholders to discuss how to translate the Roadmap and the Circle report into action beyond COP30, with particular focus on the role of ministries of finance.
Objectives:
Throw a spotlight on the recommended actions by the Report of the Circle of Finance Ministers.
Discuss the central role of ministries of finance in implementing the recommendations of the Circle Report and Roadmap.
Identify ways to use the momentum created by the Roadmap and the Circle report to drive systemic action in today’s challenging context. The Circle Report highlights the importance of coalitions of the willing in creating pathways for implementation.
Consider how the engagement in climate action by ministries of finance can be sustained and enhanced beyond COP30 through the Circle, the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action and other initiatives.
