In 2023, the first global stocktake found that mitigation commitments in countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions remained insufficient for meeting the Paris Agreement Goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C. This year, with State Parties set to communicate their updated NDCs, the global community is at a turning point where a significant increase in ambition through actionable policies and measures is critical to prevent catastrophic climate impacts.

This event aims to gather key non-government stakeholders to participate in a storytelling session about the barriers and enablers of increased and actionable climate ambition in NDCs across the developing nations. Through these exchanges, the event hopes to identify good practices from non-state actors in advocating for increased climate ambition, particularly related to approaches that can address challenges and maximize opportunities. Finally, participants and speakers will collectively visualize how countries can transform commitments into real action through a mural that will represent a call to action for the next 10 years.
